COVID-19 Statement

(Updated 26 April 2023)

Throughout the pandemic we have worked hard to implement the government guidelines and regulations relevant to us, to do all that we can to help our guests feel safe whilst maintaining that the warm and friendly welcome of Penhurst. Whilst the UK Government has now removed most regulations, we are aware that the virus is still circulating and some of our guests are anxious about this.

We are therefore keeping some of our Covid-19 measures in place,
to ensure we are doing all that we can to keep our guests and staff safe.  These are reviewed and our guest information updated regularly.

At the retreat centre:

  • Hand sanitiser stations are available at entrances and throughout the centre.

  • Staff are requested and expected to undertake covid lateral flow testing if they feel unwell or have Covid symptoms and if they test positive, to stay at home for at least 5 days and until they test negative.

  • Regular updates and briefings are provided for staff.

As part of our booking terms, we:

  • Ask guests to inform us prior to your stay and not to come to Penhurst if you or someone in your household:
    a) currently have, or have had in the last 5 days, any Covid-19 symptoms (including but not limited to: high temperature, persistent dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell),
    b) have had a positive Covid test (lateral flow or PCR) in the last 5 days or are awaiting results of a test, or
    c) have travelled into the UK and have not yet completed any relevant UK Government requirements in place at the time.

In line with UK Government guidelines, we ask guests to stay at home for at least 5 days and until they test negative before coming to Penhurst.
Please see below for information about cancellation terms.

  • Ask guests, if they develop Covid symptoms during a stay at Penhurst, to advise the Centre Host or Manager immediately and then stay in their bedroom until advised further, understanding that they may be advised to leave the centre immediately and return home.

  • Expect guests to abide by all UK Government guidance and Covid-19 related measures that Penhurst Retreat Centre puts in place to protect guests and staff, including wearing PPE where appropriate.

Cancellation terms:

We have sought to be as flexible over the last few years, but it is not sustainable for us to continue offering refunds for Covid cancellations. Our normal terms and conditions now apply to all cancellations and we strongly advise that you take out a full insurance policy to cover the full cost of your stay should you have to cancel for any reason, including Covid.

We trust that these measures reassure you ahead of your time with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Come and be refreshed, restored, renewed…
