COVID-Secure Statement

COVID-Secure Statement

(Updated 2 June 2022)

Throughout the pandemic we have worked hard to implement the government guidelines and regulations relevant to us, to do all that we can to help our guests feel safe whilst maintaining that the warm and friendly welcome of Penhurst. Whilst the UK Government has now removed most regulations, we are aware that the virus is still circulating and some of our guests are anxious about this.

We are therefore keeping some of our Covid-19 measures in place,
to ensure we are doing all that we can to keep our guests and staff safe.  These are reviewed and our guest information updated regularly.

Precautionary measures remaining in place
  • Asking guests not to come to Penhurst if you or someone in your household:
    a) currently have, or have had in the last 5 days, any Covid-19 symptoms (including but not limited to: high temperature, persistent dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell),
    b) have had a positive Covid test in the last 5 days or are awaiting results of a test, or
    c) have travelled into the UK and have not yet completed relevant UK Government requirements.
  • Asking all guests to undertake a covid lateral flow test within 24 hours before arriving at Penhurst.
  • Requesting residential guests bring their own pillows and pillowcases.
  • QR code available at the front door, for users of the NHS covid app to check-in.
  • Hand sanitiser stations at entrances and throughout the centre, and all communal hand towels replaced with paper towels.
  • Revised dining arrangements, including food and beverage service.
  • Staff are requested and expected to undertake twice-weekly covid lateral flow testing.
  • Regular updates and briefings for staff.

As part of our booking terms and conditions, guests must agree to:
  • Abide by all UK Government guidance and Covid-19 related measures that Penhurst Retreat Centre puts in place to protect guests and staff, including wearing PPE where appropriate.
  • Inform us prior to their stay if they or someone in their household have, or have had in the last 5 days, any Covid-19 symptoms (including but not limited to: high temperature, persistent dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell), have had a positive covid test (lateral flow or PCR) in the last 5 days or are awaiting test results and should be staying at home, or have not yet completed relevant UK Government requirements following international travel.  In line with UK Government guidelines, guests will then need to stay at home for at least 5 days before coming to Penhurst.  Cancellation charges will be waived and guests will be offered to reschedule their booking or receive a full refund.
  • If they develop symptoms during a stay at Penhurst, advise the Centre Host or Manager immediately and then stay in their bedroom until advised further, understanding that they may be advised to leave the centre immediately and return home.
  • Provide their contact details and understand these will be retained for a minimum of 21 days and given to the NHS Test and Trace service if necessary.

Our normal cancellation terms continue to apply, as follows:
  • If you are forced to cancel less than 28 days before your stay, we will try our best to transfer your booking to another date.  If this is not feasible for you, then the full fee will be payable.  For this reason, and your own peace of mind, we recommend full insurance cover be obtained.
  • If you cancel more than 28 days in advance, you may transfer your booking to another date (where available) or request a refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • Penhurst Retreat Centre reserves the right to cancel any booking that has been reserved or booked. Should this event occur, we will endeavour to inform you as soon as we can and outline options available.

Further information will be sent to guests before arrival.

We trust that these measures reassure you ahead of your time with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
