COVID-Secure Statement

COVID-Secure Statement

(Updated 8 October 2020)

As the Coronavirus situation continues to be an ongoing and developing reality for all of us, at Penhurst Retreat Centre we have worked hard to implement the government guidelines and regulations relevant to us, to do all that we can to help our guests feel safe whilst maintaining that the warm and friendly welcome of Penhurst. We are aware that for many people, this may be their first time venturing out to visit one of their favourite places again since lockdown.

The wellbeing of our staff and guests is our highest priority, and we are grateful that we have had no reported cases of the virus amongst our staff and volunteers.

Precautionary measures
We can reassure guests that the following measures will be in place when they visit and we are continually reviewing our procedures to ensure we are working in line with government guidelines:
  • Penhurst led retreats are limited to six guests.
  • Enhanced cleaning regimes in public areas and bedrooms.
  • Temperature checks on arrival, for all guests, staff and other visitors (as well as requesting guests to take their own temperature before leaving home, if possible).
  • A QR code is available at the front door, for users of the NHS covid app to check-in.
  • Hand sanitiser stations at entrances and throughout the centre, and all communal hand towels replaced with paper towels.
  • Social distancing measures in place throughout the centre.
  • Single occupancy of bedrooms unless guests are part of the same household or social ‘bubble’.
  • Bedrooms quarantined for minimum 24 hours between guests.
  • Revised dining arrangements, including food and beverage service and reduced numbers of guests at each dining table.
  • Guests to wear face coverings or clear visors in all indoor communal spaces, unless seated at a dining table during mealtimes or exempt due to underlying health conditions.
  • Guests requested to bring their own face covering, drinks bottle, pillow and pillowcase.
  • Limited use of the art room - guests are welcome to bring their own art materials for use in the art room and other areas of the grounds, but none of the retreat centre art materials will be available.
  • Avoiding physical contact with guests and each other, and not shaking hands, giving hugs, etc.
  • Regular updates and briefings for staff.

As part of our booking terms and conditions, guests must agree to:
  • Abide by all government guidance and Covid-19 related measures that Penhurst Retreat Centre puts in place to protect guests and staff, including wearing PPE where appropriate.
  • Inform us prior to their stay if they have, or have had in the last 14 days, any Covid-19 symptoms (including but not limited to: high temperature, persistent dry cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/or smell) and understand that in line with government guidelines they will then need to self-isolate and not come to Penhurst. If part of a household where someone else has/had symptoms or they have been advised to self-isolate through the track and trace system, guests will need to self-isolate for 14 days before coming to Penhurst.
  • If they develop symptoms during a stay at Penhurst, advise the Centre Host or Manager immediately and then stay in their bedroom until advised further, understanding that they may be advised to leave the centre immediately and return home to self-isolate.
  • Providing their contact details and understanding these will be retained for a minimum of 21 days and given to the NHS test and trace service if necessary.

Our normal cancellation terms continue to apply, as follows:
  • If you are forced to cancel less than 28 days before your stay, we will try our best to transfer your booking to another date.  If this is not feasible for you, then the full fee will be payable.  For this reason, and your own peace of mind, we recommend full insurance cover be obtained.
  • If you cancel more than 28 days in advance, you may transfer your booking to another date (where available) or request a refund minus the non-refundable deposit.
  • Penhurst Retreat Centre reserves the right to cancel any booking that has been reserved or booked. Should this event occur, we will endeavour to inform you as soon as we can and outline options available.

Further information will be sent to guests before arrival.

We trust that these measures reassure you ahead of your time with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Come and be refreshed, restored, renewed…
