Join the family

If you feel a deep connection to the ministry and people at Penhurst Retreat Centre, we would love you to become part of our Family.

Penhurst Retreat Centre is not just a place – it is an ever growing family of staff, volunteers, guests and supporters. We support each other, for short or longer periods, on our Christian journeys and in our roles as part of the body of Christ. In order to support and encourage those who come through our door we invite you to join with many others who sense a strong connection with what God is doing here.

The Family

The Penhurst Family includes folk from across the UK and worldwide who believe in the ministry of this small place that provides great love to those who visit. By committing to pray regularly you will play an active and intentional role in the everyday at Penhurst. Our aim is to foster a sense of family between staff, guests, and supporters, to give thanks for our blessings and share any concerns.

What am I committing to?

Other ways to help Penhurst Retreat Centre

1. Tell others about us

Word-of-mouth is the best form of advertising.

2. Volunteer if you are able to

Distance is not an issue here - there are many ways of volunteering. See below for some ideas.

3. Help us with fundraising if you are able to:-

Help us to maintain this beautiful building

This old house needs constant attention to keep it in good working order and we have so many practical and creative ideas that require funding.  Donations from fundraising events, one-off gifts and regular monthly donations, no matter how small, all help us to budget for this work.

Here are some ways that you can help:

Run a fundraising event for us in your area

We have already had a sponsored walk, a sponsored bike ride, a summer concert, a big cream tea party, concerts from both musicians and singers but we`re sure you can think of lots more. How about a coffee morning, garage sale, auction of promises, a street party or sponsored slim?

We`d love to think that fun community events might also be raising money for Penhurst.

If you do decide to do this let us know so that we can supply you with a `fundraising information pack` containing information about the centre and the project. We may also be able to help publicise your event if this is appropriate.

Attend a fundraising event run by us or by one of our family of supporters

If you `like` us on Facebook and we`ll keep you informed

Support us financially

You can make a one-off donation here. We appreciate every penny we receive and promise to put it all to good use. If you are a tax-payer and able to Gift-Aid your donation then please make sure that you do so as we can then receive the government`s donation too.

If you prefer not to give online or you are able to commit to a regular monthly amount [no matter how small] then you can download a Gift Form instead. A few pounds per month may make little difference to you but it`s amazing what a difference it would make to our income. If all of the people on our mailing list gave £8 per month for a year we could pay off our loans and boost our bursary fund within 12 months.

Give to our bursary fund

If you would like to help a poorly paid or faith funded full-time christian worker have a retreat, you can make a donation and ask that it be included in our bursary fund. We will then ensure that it is used only for that purpose.

Leave us a legacy

By leaving a legacy to Penhurst Retreat Centre, you can help us to bless others for many years to come. We promise that your gift, however large or small, will be spent wisely and make a genuine difference to all who use the centre.

Volunteering - Are you able to share your gifts and skills with us?

We are always on the lookout for volunteers in the garden, the kitchen, the office and around the house. There are also more specialist skills that we could use - are you an upholster, a carpenter, a painter, a seamstress, a sculptor, a photographer? Can you service lawnmowers, sharpen tools, paint garden furniture, prune apple trees, tend ponds…. then we could use you too if you have time to give. Whether it’s a day a month or a few hours in a year we would welcome whatever you can offer.

If you live further afield you can still come and stay while you volunteer for a few days or you can be an advocate for the centre. You can ensure that we are always well advertised in your church and amongst your friends/colleagues. You can link to us via your social networking site of preference [click on facebook or twitter button below] so that your friends hear about us and can link to us through you. You can organise a fundraising event for us in your area, you can share with us with the fruits of your labour - cards to sell, artwork, worship resources, preserves [providing you have a food safety certificate], honey... the list is endless. If you have anything that you are willing to offer that will enhance the centre we would love to hear from you.
