Contemplative Slow Stitching: Mon 5 - Friday 9 August

This message was added on 2024-06-20

On this retreat, we will take time to reflect on Scripture; to listen to what the Lord is saying, and to deepen our communication with him. Using pre-loved fabric, colourful threads and simple running stitches, we will quietly think and pray to allow the Lord to speak to us personally.

As well as specific times of silent stitching together there will be opportunities to walk in the garden and to reflect with others at the end of the day. The afternoons will be free.

The retreat will appeal to those who wish to take time out, slow down and reconnect with God. Each day will begin with morning prayer and end with night prayer.

No previous stitching experience is required. All materials will be provided.

PLEASE NOTE: This retreat will finish at 10am on Friday and lunch is not included. If you would like to stay for lunch and depart by 2pm, this may be possible for an extra £20 per person. Please ask at time of booking.

Retreat leader Elizabeth Scott is a lay minister and an experienced Spiritual Director. She is a creative textile artist who loves to communicate through painting and stitching. Elizabeth has led many contemplative stitching retreats over the past 5 years both in Norfolk and Northumberland - and even one in Hong Kong! She is amazed how the Lord has graciously blessed her ministry and is delighted when others find how slow stitching can become a meaningful way of communicating with the Lord for them. Elizabeth currently runs a weekly art and craft group for refugees and asylum seekers in her home church in Norwich as part of their outreach.
