Lent is a significant period on the modern Christian calendar, just as it was for the ancient Celtic Christians. On this retreat, David Cole, author of the book Celtic Lent (BRF), will be sharing aspects of Lent and the lead up to Easter as celebrated and focused on by the ancient Celtic Christians and monastic centres.

The retreat will run 10am - 5.30pm on Saturday and Sunday and you are encouraged to set this whole time aside as your retreat. There will be 90 minute sessions in the morning and late afternoon, including times of being still together, teaching, and interaction/questions. There will also be guided Lent prayers at lunchtime and material for you to use and reflect on between sessions.

Come and join in, and maybe discover something more to this Lent season.

David`s book `Celtic Lent` is available at

The retreat will be run online via Zoom, with times together and periods for you to reflect individually. You will need a computer / laptop / tablet with audio/speakers or a smartphone to participate. A laptop or desktop computer works best as you can see only nine faces at one time on a tablet and some phones show only four.

This course is organised in partnership with David Cole of Waymark Ministries. By registering, you are also giving Penhurst Retreat Centre permission to pass your details on to the other event organiser(s) in order for them to provide you with information and material relating to this specific event.

Please note: this retreat will be held online via Zoom as above, not at Penhurst, as the centre is currently closed. The note below about staying extra nights is automatic and cannot be changed at present!

If you wish to stay longer, or start your stay earlier, please contact us about availability.
