Richard King

Richard won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music and later was a founder member of the Elysian Wind Quintet and Principal Bassoon in the Hallé Orchestra. He left the Orchestra and was ordained in 1984 after which he worked in a number of Parishes as well as training in spiritual direction with Gerard Hughes and at St Beuno`s. He has worked as a spiritual director and retreat leader for many years, he was a member of the Exeter Diocesan Prayer School team and later Spirituality Adviser in the Diocese of Guildford. He is now Director of Ordinand Formation at Lincoln School of Theology. Some years ago he fell in love with jazz and began to play tenor and soprano saxophones. With the love of music rekindled he began to see how music had always been his vocation alongside ordained ministry.

Music and Art and Spirituality

The focus of this retreat will be on how images and music can liberate us to breathe with the Holy Spirit. If you are reasonably competent on a musical instrument please bring it with you and email us on info@penhurst.org.uk to let us know which one you`re bringing. Day guests are welcome to join us for the Saturday even if not staying with us for the whole weekend. Anyone who might....
