Rev Gary Cregeen

Born and bred in the coastal town of Whitehaven, Cumbria, upon leaving school I worked in industry and local government for 18 years. During that time and met and married my wife, Julie, and we both led the youth work in our local church. Thereafter, we moved to London where I studied at theological college before ordination in 2000. I then served in both urban and rural contexts across Cumbria and, latterly as Mission Area Leader in an area of Cumbria known as the Eden Valley - this was an ecumenical post and I working closely with the 49 churches across this predominantly rural area. Over the years I have spoken on various Oak Hall expeditions, led church weekends away, quiet days and retreats. For a number of years my wife and I led a Canal Venture for young people (aged 14-20 years). For me, taking `time out` to delve into the depth of God`s Word and to have time to reflect and pray is vital - `come close to God and He will come close to you`. I am now Vicar of Ashburnham with Penhurst and Rural Officer for East Sussex. At the heart of my faith, and the greatest satisfaction of my ministry, is the attempt to communicate the grace of God and the love of Christ, in whatever context I find myself - `To know, love and follow Jesus` personally and to enable others to do the same. Effectively, to `join in` with what God is already doing in `gathering His people in` through `telling and showing the people of Sussex (and beyond) that God loves them and wants the best for their lives, not just now, but for eternity`.

Jonah - The Depth of God`s Grace

`Jonah and the Whale` could easily be viewed as a fairy tale or a fantasy - something that sits outside the main thrust of the Old Testament. But of course, it isn`t! It speaks of a sovereign God, who is rich in mercy, whose compassionate love for the lost then, remains the same today. Join us as we `plumb the depths` of this short but significant Old Testament book.
